I give you an old-fashioned story of wit, pride, and romance: The Snow Rose by Sandra and Michel Laroche. In this charming early-modern-set tale, a gallant troubadour tackles a series of formidable puzzles in order to demonstrate his cleverness and earn the hand of a haughty princess in marriage. In between solving riddles, he spends his days in the company of an innkeeper’s shy and gentle daughter. As the seasons pass, the glamour of a royal match begins to fade alongside the appeal of deep affection and genuine companionship. The husband-and-wife author-illustrator team works together flawlessly; his eloquent writing style establishes a tone of classic entertainment, while her silhouette-style art bestows the narrative with a striking quality of formal grace. #snow #rose #snowrose #silhouette #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
