The book of the day is Allan Baillie and Wayne Harris’s DragonQuest, an original tale filled with impressive terrain, frightening beasts, and unexpected discoveries. A grizzled knight, in florid and theatrical tones, invites a boy to accompany him on a hunt to face the last dragon atop Glass Mountain. Baillie’s text is entirely restricted to the paladin’s self-aggrandizing speech as he narrates their journey across barren deserts, through haunted forests, and along treacherous cliffs. Harris, with a blend of acrylic painting and digital media, depicts one dangerous obstacle after another, including poisonous vermin, soul-ensnaring witches, demons, werewolves, and a two-headed troll. At the final mountain peak, the warrior laments that no dragon has appeared before them. However, as the boy notices (and as the illustrations reveal to the reader), their quarry may be closer, larger, and more majestic than they could ever have imagined. #dragon #quest #dragonquest #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
