Next for Puss in Boots Week is this version by Marcia Brown, who takes a graphic approach to the work, augmenting her loose pen drawings with bold patches of red, yellow, gray, and black. The text, described as “a free translation from Charles Perrault”, includes many of the original fairy tale’s turns of phrase, including the youngest son’s gloomy resignation to eating the cat and making a muff of his skin, the elegant pseudonym “the Marquis of Carabas”, and Puss’s threat to the mowers and reapers of the field that, unless they uphold his ruse, they will be ground into mincemeat. #cat #boots #fairytale #folklore #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
