Some of us are happy dashing about in a light drizzle every now and then. Others like their weather warm and dry. Whatever your personal preference, you’ll surely enjoy Barbara Haupt and Tomek Bogacki’s The Boy Who Loved the Rain. A mysterious youth appears one day out of nowhere in a busy marketplace. He relishes the feel of rain on his skin, and fails to understand why others do not feel the same. A kindly woman known as Old Lisbeth bids him listen to the wondrous musical sounds of the falling water, which inspires him to catch the rain and spread to joy to others around him. Before they part, she dubs him Florino the Raindrop Catcher. With a little bit of effort, Florino shows his community the unique magic in the sound of each rainstorm. Haupt’s onomatopoeias and rich sensory language are well paired with Bogacki’s warm, rain-spattered images. #boy #loved #rain #raindrops #love #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
