There’s plenty a chuckle to be had among the shivers in Mercer Mayer’s The Wizard Comes to Town. Order and tranquillity reign at Mrs. Beggs’ quiet boarding house. However, one day she and her guests are scandalized by the arrival of Z. P. Alabasium, a wizard who commences with a series of chaotic spells. He ignores all requests to stop and simply will not leave. Only by consulting an arcane tome of her own can Mrs. Beggs evict the sorcerous squatter. Mayer’s cheerful text and whimsical character design leaven the air of magical menace. #wizard #town #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
