We’ve all felt the discomfort of surrounding ourselves with technology and severing our relationship with nature. But what might be the reaction of a purely technological being upon experiencing nature for the very first time? This is the question asked—and satisfyingly answered—in Unplugged by @mrsteveantony. A power cable connects a small robot named Blip to a large computer, which keeps her constantly informed and entertained. One day, during a blackout, she stumbles, trips over the cord, bounces down the stairs, and rolls outside. Having never left the building before, Blip is delighted with her new surroundings. She frolics through the grass and trees with a fawn, a rabbit, and a duckling before returning home to plug in once more. However, she is now sustained by the joyous memory of her adventure. Antony’s engaging illustrations depict a sudden and welcome transition between the cold, sterile gray of the computer laboratory and the lush green, blue, and brown of the outside world. #unplugged #robot #computer #plug #outside #outdoors #nature #adventure #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
