The crossing of a subtle geographical boarder leads to a gentle, appealing adventure in Barbara Lehman’s Trainstop. A young girl waits in an underground subway station with her family. They board the train, and she watches out the window as the view shifts from dreary city to dark tunnel to bright countryside. Suddenly, a tribe of miniature humans flags down the train and the girl is called upon to retrieve a small propeller plane and its pilot safely from a low-hanging tree branch. Once the train returns to the city, the encounter might as well have been a dream. But was it? Surely not, for two of the tiny people follow her home to give her a seed, which she plants in a crack between the stones in her front yard. In her wordless narrative, Lehman imbues the light fantasy with an enchanting air of delicate emotional realism. #train #trains #stop #adventure #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
