Take a gander at @martin.widmark and @emilia.dziubak’s enjoyable Little Pearl. Daniel begs for a bedtime story from his beloved babysitter Grace, who proceeds to tell him about the disappearance of her older brother Tom when she was a child. In her tale, while sledding down a snowy hill, young Grace falls through a mysterious tunnel and wakes up in a land of giant insects—or has she simply shrunk to their size? Before long, she is menaced by a sinister crab who forces her to dive into a deep pool, wedge open a clam’s mouth, and retrieve a glowing pearl. Finally, she discovers Tom and a few other children imprisoned in a dark cave. Together, they outwit the fearsome crustacean and escape. Grace’s story done, a drowsy Daniel falls gently asleep. With fantastical narrative and illustrations, Widmark and Dziubak concoct an original tale full of whimsy and wonder. #little #pearl #sister #brother #insect #insects #crab #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
