Making my way through the dark wilderness, I have another entry in this Snow White Theme Week for you: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Wanda Gág. The story here is adapted faithfully from the German of the Brothers Grimm. Gág’s trademark black and white illustrations lend the proceedings a quaint, old-world atmosphere. A point of historical interest: This book was published in 1938, shortly after the famous Walt Disney film. Gág wrote the book at the suggestion of legendary children’s librarian Anne Carroll Moore. Though the intention was to contrast with Disney’s free adaptation, the title remains identical to that of the movie (the Grimms’ fairy tale is called “Sneewittchen”, or “Little Snow White”). #snow #white #snowwhite #queen #mirror #poison #apple #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
