The Spring equinox has come ‘round again, and I am celebrating with a reading of The Search for Spring, a pensive and poetic work by Moira Miller and Ian Deuchar. A boy who lives on his family’s farm wishes to know where Spring goes once Summer arrives. Since his mother and father cannot tell him, he sets out into the world to find out. Days, weeks, months, and years slip away; through brushes with wisdom, violence, and hardship, he can never quite seem to find Spring. He grows from a boy into a young man, endlessly seeking the answer to his mystical question. Then, he arrives at a familiar little farmhouse in a broad valley—he has come home again. Moreover, Spring is there waiting for him. But, his mother wonders, where has her little boy gone? Miller’s through-provoking allegory pairs beautifully with Deuchar’s delicate paintings. #search #spring #summer #fall #autumn #winter #season #seasons #time #quest #journey #adventure #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
